This year’s motto, «Limitless,» shows itself in a wide variety of musical offers: from piano recitals to the two weeks of Baroque, or from contemporary works in the chamber weeks to the Beethoven piano sonatas Dasol Kim will interpret at the end of the festival. The many interfaces between classical, jazz and folk music would seem to be limitless. Brahms’s Hungarian and Bartok’s Romanian dances are but two such examples. And a commissioned work by Alfred Zimmerlin − slated for its world premier performance on August 2 in the Ernen church − is a piece for solo e-bass and orchestra that pushes the limits of musical convention.
