Part of the series «Chamber music compact» – Trio Gaspard plays 7 concerts in 3 days.
Joseph Haydn: Piano Trio G minor Hob. XV:1
Josef Suk: Elegy D flat major op. 23
Bedřich Smetana: Piano Trio G minor op. 15
Duration approx. 60 minutes
Joseph Haydn is currently at the centre of the Trio Gaspard's attention. In this concert, the still almost baroque Haydn trio in elegant French style is contrasted with romantic Czech music.
Josef Suk wrote the devotional Elegy on the first anniversary of the death of Czech national poet Julius Zeyer. Bedřich Smetana reflected on the death of his 4-year-old daughter Bedřiška in his Piano Trio in G minor. The work is characterised by sadness and beautiful memories and comes to a hopeful conclusion.
Trio Gaspard:
Jonian Ilias Kadesha, violin
Vashti Hunter, violoncello
Nicholas Rimmer, piano
