Part of the series «Piano»
Frédéric Chopin: Thre Mazurkas op. 50
Claude Debussy: Images – Six Piano Pieces L. 110 and L. 111
Franz Schubert: Piano Sonata C minor D 958
Duration approx. 85 minutes, no interval
Chloe Jiyeong Mun became internationally recognised during her studies in South Korea through her remarkable competition successes. She later came to Berlin to continue her training with Sir András Schiff.
In her debut recital, the young pianist demonstrates three very different facets of her ability: Chopin's Mazurkas are initially folkloristic and light-hearted (Nos. 1 and 2), but the third is rhapsodic and captivates with its original sounds and great emotional intensity.
At the centre of the programme are Debussy's Images - six detailed, colourful musical pictures. The expressive depth of Schubert's dramatic C minor Sonata brings the concert to a brilliant conclusion.
