The Trio Basilea - winner of the Orpheus Swiss Chamber Music Competition 2023 - was selected as one of the «Ensemble in Residence» after their brilliant Ernen debut in September 2024. The trio will live in the Musikdorf for two weeks and concentrate fully on their work on joint interpretations.
As part of their residency, the trio will give a concert with Felix Mendelssohn's 1st Piano Trio (1839), which immediately creates a semantically rich, epically sublime mood with the quotation from Schubert's song «Fahrt zum Hades» in the opening movement.
Claire-Mélanie Sinnhuber will be Composer in Residence 2025/26 in the Musikdorf Ernen. The Trio Basilea is thus providing a preview of the Swiss-French composer's wide-ranging showcase of her work in 2026.
The Trio Basilea's second main work will be Schubert's monumental E flat major trio. With its expressive extremes, it is a pinnacle work of the genre and becomes an emotional challenge every time it is heard.
