Joseph Haydn: String Quartet in G major Op. 77 No. 1
Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy: String Quartet in A minor Op. 13
Duration approx. 60 minutes
The Chiaroscuro Quartet plays on period instruments, guts strings and with period bows, and does so in such a surprising, fresh and clever way that the ensemble has earned a first-class reputation in a very short time.
In Chamber Concert 2, they juxtapose a late quartet by Haydn with a work by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, composed when he was 18 in response to Beethoven's death.
Chiaroscuro Quartet:
Alina Ibragimova, violin
Pablo Hernán Benedí, violin
Emilie Hörnlund, viola
Claire Thirion, violoncello
