Joseph Haydn: String Quartet in G major Op. 33 No. 5
Ludwig van Beethoven: String Quartet No. 9 in C major Op. 59 No. 3
Duration approx. 55 minutes
The Chiaroscuro Quartet deliberately refrains from exaggerated tempi, even if these are sometimes considered particularly authentic. They prefer to rely on edgy sharpening and varied repetitions, on wit and flashes of inspiration in their interplay.
Like a real conversation, the Chamber Concert 3 begins with a "How do you do?" The first motiv of the Haydn Quartet can be heard as a musical interpretation of this opening phrase. This is followed by the C major string quartet by Ludwig van Beethoven, a chamber work conceived in symphonic dimensions.
Chiaroscuro Quartet:
Alina Ibragimova, violin
Pablo Hernán Benedí, violin
Emilie Hörnlund, viola
Claire Thirion, violoncello
