Just as in painting chiaroscuro contrasts give a picture more expression and drama, the members of the Chiaroscuro Quartet heighten their passionate playing. They exploit the chiaroscuro by letting sounds flare up and plunge into dark abysses.
This is particularly audible in the music of Franz Schubert, with which the Chiaroscuro Quartet opens the 7-part series "Chamber music compact".
