Franz Schubert: Piano Sonata in D Major D 850 "Gasteiner"
Franz Schubert: 4 Impromptus D 935
Duration approx. 75 minutes, no interval
‘Schubertiade’ in Ernen – Five concerts, one composer. Dasol Kim, Hisako Kawamura and Fabian Müller explore Schubert's piano works: not only the famous late sonatas – those too! – but also Schubert's fascinating music for piano four hands.
Hisako Kawamura is a globally successful pianist, winner of the Concours Clara Haskil in Vevey and professor at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. In addition to the famous Impromptus D 935, she also plays the so-called 'Gastein Sonata' in D major. This cheerful work was written during the summer holidays in Gmunden and Gastein – perhaps the last carefree time in Schubert's life, before the dark years of the last phase of his life.
