Piano
Focus on the piano
Since the founding of the Musikdorf Ernen by the legendary pianist György Sebők, the piano has been at the heart of activities in the Musikdorf Ernen. World-famous pianists perform at Musikdorf Ernen, as do promising young pianists whose careers are still in their infancy. Since 2025, there has also been a public master class for piano, led by star pianist Sir András Schiff.
There are currently two piano series at Musikdorf Ernen: the ‘Piano’ series (also known as ‘Piano Week’) takes place in the second week of July and presents a selection of the most interesting pianists of our time in a recital. During the day, visitors have the opportunity to listen to the public master class with Sir András Schiff. The ‘Piano Compact’ series takes place at the end of August. ‘Piano Compact’ is an intensive musical weekend with five to six concerts over three to four days, focusing on one or two pianists.
Internationally renowned pianists have already performed in the Musikdorf Ernen, including György Sebők, Sir András Schiff, Angela Hewitt, Dénes Várjon, Alexei Volodin, Cédric Tiberghien, Charl du Plessis, Fabian Müller, Hisako Kawamura, Maki Namekawa, Dennis Russel Davies, Schaghajegh Nosrati, Jean-Sélim Abdelmoula, Alasdair Beatson, Joonas Ahonen, Paolo Giacometti, Claire Hungci, Anton Gerzenberg, Sergey Tanin, Varvara, Oliver Schnyder, Pietro de Maria, Dasol Kim, Cédric Pescia, Andrew Tyson, Tae-Hyung Kim, Jinsang Lee, Nicholas Rimmer, Andrei Gologan, Alice Burla and Béatrice Berrut.
