Baroque Concerts

Pure emotion with music from the 17th and 18th centuries!

The music of Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and their contemporaries has been loved by a wide audience in the Musikdorf Ernen for years. Baroque music is dance-like, melodious, sometimes dramatically emotional, sometimes full of contemplative depth.

In 2004, on the initiative of Ada Pesch, a Baroque concert was held in Ernen for the first time, i.e. a concert featuring music from the 17th and 18th centuries, played on historical instruments according to stylistic principles based on historical sources (known as historical performance practice or historically informed performance practice).

In the years following 2004, some of Europe's best Baroque specialists formed the ensemble Aernen Barock. It presents music by popular Baroque composers, as well as works by lesser-known or completely unknown composers. Outstanding singers have performed at the Baroque Weeks at Musikdorf Ernen on numerous occasions, including Andreas Scholl, Núria Rial, Dorothee Mields, Alex Potter, Carine Tinney, Julia Doyle, Stephan MacLeod, Ann Hallenberg, Rachel Harnisch, Maite Beaumont and Guy Cutting.
