The three movements of Arno Babadschanjan's piano trio, enriched with folkloric characteristics, are so visually powerful and expressive that a deliberate, fairytale-like narrative style cannot be dismissed – from the mystical beginning of the later sonically lush first movement, through the enchantingly floating Andante to the wild dance of the finale in irregular 5/8 time.
Mel Bonis' character piece Soir creates a characteristic evening atmosphere with its delicate harmonies, further stimulating our fairy-tale imagination and preparing us for Franz Schubert's monumental Trio in B flat major through a brief reflection.
Trio Gaspard:
Jonian Ilias Kadesha, Violin
Vashti Hunter, Violoncello
Nicholas Rimmer, Piano
