Part of the series «Chamber music compact» – Trio Gaspard plays 7 concerts in 3 days.
Fanny Hensel-Mendelssohn: Piano Trio D minor op. 11
Charlotte Bray: Piano Trio «That Crazed Smile» (2014)
Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy: Piano Trio No. 1 D minor op. 49
Duration approx. 65 minutes
The Mendelssohn siblings are at the centre of this concert. Their piano trios share a passionate, lyrical tone and the creative combination of classical form and romantic content.
In between is the short impressionistic-surrealistic work «That Crazed Smile» by Charlotte Bray, which, in keeping with the Shakespearean enthusiasm of Mendelssohn's time, conjures up a moonlit night in explicit reference to the fairy king Oberon, in which the fairies gather to shower the lovers with dreams.
Trio Gaspard:
Jonian Ilias Kadesha, violin
Vashti Hunter, violoncello
Nicholas Rimmer, piano
