Chamber music

Chamber music has been at the heart of activities since the founding of the Musikdorf Ernen. Chamber music is an intimate form of classical music that does not require a conductor, where listening to each other and responding sensitively to fellow musicians is particularly important.

The Musikdorf Ernen has three chamber music series: the ‘Kammermusikfest’ (formerly ‘Kammermusik plus’) lasts two weeks and brings together some of Europe's best chamber musicians with young chamber music talents. The ‘Kammermusikfest’ also includes orchestral concerts and a world premiere, and is characterised by particularly well-conceived concert programmes that combine popular masterpieces with new discoveries and modern music. The ‘Chamber Music Compact’ series is an intensive musical weekend with six to seven concerts over three days, organised by a renowned permanent chamber music ensemble. The ‘Newcomers’ series is a dense musical weekend presenting promising young chamber music ensembles.
